The World Corporate Golf Challenge (WCGC, https://worldcorporategolfchallenge.com) is a story of golf, competition, networking and media. It is the most established global “Business to Business” golf tournament with their beginning from the UK’s The Times Corporate Golf Challenge that was established in 1993. In 2007, Jose Guerra bought the event and moved the company to Spain whereby it developed significantly with strong media and marketing support from TIME and Fortune magazines, plus television partner Golfing World TV.

Participants are C-suite business executives with substantial purchasing power, aged 30-60, from companies in different industries. More than 30 countries will hold local, regional, and national tournaments organized by licensed partners. The winning team from each country and company will meet at the World Final to compete for the World Champion title. Golfing is a great way to network, build relationships, and have fun with fellow executives. Our world corporate golf event is the perfect opportunity for you to meet and connect with other professionals in your industry. The event will be structured so that you can play games and enjoy a competitive atmosphere while making valuable connections. Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity to showcase your skills and make valuable connections!

Singapore will hold its Inaugural World Corporate Golf Challenge at world class Sentosa Golf Club. To mark this Inaugural event in Singapore, the event will raise funds for Community Chest to support more than 100 social service agencies with over 200 critical programmes offered to those in need, including special education, youth programmes, adult disability support, family service centres, eldercare and caregiver support. You probably know that Community Chest is the philanthropy and engagement arm of the National Council of Social Service (NCSS). Hence other than a great corporate networking event, participating corporates will be doing good.

Singapore Golf Association (SGA) has sanctioned WCGC Singapore. Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCCI) and Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SICCCI) have agreed to be supporting business chambers. Audi will be a hole-in-one sponsor and Robb Report will be a media partner.

A team of 2 golfers will participate in the competition. The average of the 2 golfers stableford score will be used to compute the team score.

The stableford system with adjustment for handicaps will be used. Stableford is a scoring system in golf that awards points for the number of strokes taken on each hole in relation to par, rather than simply counting your strokes (like in stroke play). Unlike in stroke play, where you want the lowest score, your goal in Stableford scoring is to have the highest score.

Standard Stableford points values are:

  • 0 Points – Double Bogey or Worse (Two strokes or more over par)
  • 1 Point – Bogey (One stroke over par)
  • 2 Points – Par
  • 3 Points – Birdie (One stroke under par)
  • 4 Points – Eagle (Two strokes under par)
  • 5 Points – Albatross/Double Eagle (Three strokes under par)
  • 6 Points – Condor (Four strokes under par)

Official handicap as captured under Singapore Golf Association’s Centralised Handicapping System (CHS, https://chs.sga.org.sg) will be factored in to allow players of varying skill levels to compete more closely.

A 5-handicap golfer would get one stroke on the five most difficult holes of the course. “Par” for these five holes would increase by one stroke. If one of the five toughest holes was a par-4, it would play as a par-5 for this golfer, meaning they’d receive par points if they shot a 5 on the hole.

A 20-handicap golfer would get one stroke for every hole, plus an additional stroke for the two most challenging holes on the 18-hole course. If the most difficult hole was a par-4, it would play as a par-6 for a 20-handicap golfer. A score of 5 would award them birdie points.

Scoring will be done manually using the score card recorded by another team in the flight. If a corporate sends in more than 1 team, the organizer will ensure that the 2 teams in a flight will not be from the same corporate.

Lunch will be provided before golf and beverages (water and isotonic drinks) will be provided during golf. Golfers need to bring their own golf clubs and balls.
